As the name suggests snap-on lids are used externally on top of the cup. This type of lid also has one particular key advantage from the consumer’s viewpoint: it protects the edge of the cup from contamination when being transported and during storage. So the snap-on lid is used in particular wherever the product is consumed directly from the cup – in other words e.g. with milk drinks. Being able to securely reseal the cup after initial use is also important for the consumer so he/she can enjoy the product a bit at a time without the risk of absorbing the taste from other food items in the fridge or of the product spilling out if the cup is knocked over.
